Why Staff Matters to Real Estate Agents

I was a psychology major in college and I loved it. It was fascinating to learn how the brain works but I was always fascinated by business practices and how to make them work best for productivity in the workplace. So I decided to minor in business administration. Sitting at my desk in Berkshire Hathaway, a lot of the different aspects of both of those fields are fitting together. Being a staff member where the agents are my clients throws you into the world of customer service. You have to know the way your client thinks and how best to serve them. And this is a fast paced business and you have to keep up. Now, most people don’t realize the impact a great staff can have on a brokerage because common knowledge says realtors are self-employed. And this is technically true, however real estate agents have to be sponsored by a broker. Each brokerage has things to offer the agents to entice them to join (ours is the best, FYI). And one of those things is staff to help out with the day to day stuff.

Staff definition is “a group of officers assisting an officer [agent] in command of an army formation or administration headquarters.” But we are so much more than that! When you are a new agent, what can be better than having access to people that have been doing this for almost 20 years? Not much. The staff at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Texas Realty, cares about our people and we want to do everything we can to make you and your clients happy. Let us start out with the basics. There is always a friendly staff member to greet your clients at the front desk, get them a beverage, and direct them to your office or a conference room. This makes such a huge difference. This makes you look professional and can immediately make your clients at ease. They know everyone is friendly, they were expected, and you look like a pro (which you are). The office is always stocked with supplies you need and always someone to help you. Now “help” can mean so many things.

We are able to sit down and assist with marketing or technology difficulties. We have staff that happily walks the agents through social media and how to catch a buyer’s eye. We work with our platform to make the best flyers for each agents’ new listings and their open houses. And help them use those flyers for advertising and to get more traffic. We help with the new technology that can be daunting to learn and make it easier to use in their everyday life. These tools help exponentially with the growth of any business. We set up one on one meetings to make sure the agent is getting real help, along with our training classes we provide each month.

And one of the most important things our staff excels at is to teach you. Our upper management is a fountain of knowledge that they are happy to share. They genuinely want their agents to succeed. They have been in this business for over 20 years, management is here to assist with the hard questions. And if they cannot find the answer, they will know who to direct you to. If no staff member can answer the question, we will do everything in our power to find it for you!

The point of this blog is, that staff truly matters for your business. Why not use us as a resource to learn and grow? Or even just use us for professionalism.
