Each year Austin hosts hundreds of events, and summer 2017 is no exception. As expected, Austin's calendar is packed with epic summertime fesitvals to be enjoyed by all. Here's our pick for what Austin is most famous for: entertainment, food, and music!
1. Float Fest- July 22 & 23rd
For two days in July, Float Fest combines two of Texas's favorite activities of tubing and live music at the 220-acre Cool River Ranch along the San Marcos River. Hosting a pile of big name artists headlining the event, over 10,000 party-goers get to camp on site and float down the river with their squad, enjoying performances from artists like Zedd and Weezer
Once you've made it down the river, be sure to indulge in the some of the best food trucks joining from the region, and chill out in air-conditione tents. VIP tickets are availble, including around-the-clock hydration, private tents, massages, side stage elevated viewing decks, and no line-ups!
2. Corvette Invasion- July 15-16th
Just as the name suggests, the fifth annual event takes over the Circuit of the Americas for two whole days of Corvette appreciation. Thousands of Corvette enthusiasts come to show their beauties off to the crowds of spectators coming in from all over the world.
Live music by the Clutch Kings, track tours and parade laps on the circuit can be enjoyed by all. A helicopter tour of the event is a must! This is the one time Corvette owners can experience driving on the only F1 track in the country!
3. Austin Pride Week & Parade- August 19-26th
Mark your calendars for one of the most exciting weeks of the summer, celebrating Austin's Pride! Hosted by the Austin Gay and Lesbian Pride Foundation, the festival kicks off with #WERK fashion show featuring designers from Project Runway, followed by the Ultra-Fierce Festival & Parade.
Thousands of attendees will enjoy an array of fabulous artsy exhibits, free bingo, dramatic drag shows, pageants, live performances, and of course, the epic Pride Parade! The event finishes off with the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Brunch. The non-profit Austin PRIDE group donates all proceeds back into the community.
4. Highland Village Balloon Festival- August-18-20th
The Highland Village Lions Club hosts one of the most exciting family events to take place in the summer. While the main attraction is to see the astonishing hot-air balloons ascend in the morning and at night, families will also enjoy hourly raffle draws, delicious local food vendors, art and crafts, petting zoos, bouncy castles, and a classic car show.
Kids have the opportunity to enjoy a tethered balloon ride going up 100 feet in the air. The Balloon Mass Ascension is an experience you'll never forget! The Lions Club volunteers will also host free vision screening for all members of the family.
5. Heart O' Texas Margarita & Salsa Festival- August-26th
Be sure to attend the biggest, coolest, and hottest party of the summer. The 22nd Annual Margarita & Salsa Festival is a fantastic event to wrap up all of your summer shenanigans. Hosted at the fully air-conditioned Extraco Events Center in Waco, nearly ten thousand guests enjoy sampling a margarita and salsa contest.
Major country performers from around the world come to entertain the crowds. Anyone interested in putting their margarita and salsa recipes in the competition are welcome to join for free.
