This fantastic school was ranked #8 in 2014 by Newsweek for being the nation's best high school. This is a public school with no tuition, but competition for admission can be strong. This school has a focus on liberal arts, science, and math.
This is the only high school in the Eanes Independent School District. Located in Travis County, TX, this 2,500 student high school has a curriculum that is primarily college preparatory. The school continually ranks on the top 100 in the country by Newsweek magazine.
Located in Anderson Mill, Austin, Texas, Westwood has honors and advanced placement courses to all students in the district. These programs are ideal for students looking to get into competitive colleges and universities.
Vandergrift High School is also located in Travis County. This school not only has an exceptional academics program, it has dual credit with Austin Community College. This means that juniors and seniors can get college credit while still in high school.
Cedar Park High School was added to the Leander Independent School District because of the rapid growth that the area was seeing. This school is known to have the best sports and education program in this district.
Just 20 miles west of Austin near the beautiful Lake Travis is where you will find this school. It is the only high school in the Lake Travis Independent School District servicing Bee Cave, Briar Cliff, Lakeway, The Hills, and Hudson Bend. The school football team won 6 consecutive state championships from 2007-2016, which was the only Texas football team to do that.
This school was the first in Texas to start a portfolio program to measure students success to prepare them for real-world endeavors. Dripping Springs High School is very proud that they created a new way to make their students ready for the world after high school.
The Round Rock Independent School District Engineering Academy is located at McNeil High School. This is an added bonus for students wanting to work in the engineering field as a career choice. Students in McNeil or Westwood High School will be able to enroll in this program.
Anderson High School is one of the top-ranked schools for academics in Texas. They also have a successful athletics program, with a focus on football. They also have a championship wrestling team. This is a very well-rounded school that offers the best of academics and athletics.
Located in Cedar Park, this high school was built in 2003 to keep up with the growing demand from families moving into this area. With an excellent reputation for providing a solid foundation for students looking to attend top-notch colleges and universities.
The district that shows up the most on this list is the Learner Independent School District. Being one of the larger districts in Greater Austin, it is no surprise that it is also one of the faster-growing districts as well. The other two notable districts are Austin Independent School District and Round Rock Independent School District. Both have an excellent reputation and wonderful schools within their areas.
