Kyle is ideally located in the heart of the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. Residents and commuters enjoy the ease of access to the newly completed I-45 toll road as well as I-10, FM 150, FM 1626, SH 21 and SH 123. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is located 25 miles north of Kyle, the San Marcos Municipal Airport is located 12 miles to the City's south, and San Antonio International Airport is 52 miles to the south. The MoPac rail line runs through the heart of downtown Kyle. The Amtrak Passenger Train has a nearby stop 10 miles south of Kyle in San Marcos.
Buda is served by one public school system, Hays Consolidated I.S.D., and four private schools.
Located in North Central Hays County, the Hays Consolidated Independent School District serves over 221 square miles. The district's 22 campuses are located throughout the Buda and Kyle communities, drawing nearly 16,000 students. Two 4-year high schools, five middle schools (6-8 grades), 13 elementary schools, an alternative high school of choice and disciplinary campus comprise the district's campuses, which have tripled in number since 2000. The district features a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center; a dual-language magnet program at two elementary campuses; a science/technology/engineering/math (STEM) magnet program at two elementary schools; Project Lead the Way designation at both of the comprehensive high schools' and music, art, library, and PE included in the weekly rotation at the elementary level. Santa Cruz Catholic School | The first Catholic Elementary School in Hays County and is Accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department. Located in Buda and currently teaches PreK-8th Grade.
San Marcos Academy | A co-educational boarding school for 7th to 12th graders which currently has 298 students.
Hill Country Christian School | Located in San Marcos, TX and is a Christian school providing education for grades kindergarten through 12th.
Wonderland School | Located outside San Marcos, TX and is a privately owned, state-approved school. Wonderland currently serves over 200 students at its 14,000 square-foot campus.
Austin Community College | The Hays Campus of ACC opened in Spring 2014. Their current facility can house up 2,000 students and there are plans to expand the campus in the future to accommodate additional students and programs. Some of the programs offered include computer studies, biology, chemistry, accounting, and criminal justice.
UT Austin | Located 20 minutes from Buda, Texas and serves as one of the four-year universities serving Buda residents. The University of Texas at Austin is a comprehensive university with a broad mission of undergraduate and graduate education, research, and service to society. Current enrollment is approximately 48,000.
Texas State University | TSU, located in San Marcos, is only 15 minutes from Buda. This four-year university provides comprehensive and culturally diverse instruction for both undergraduate and graduate students. Current enrollment exceeds 35,000 students.
